We're Just Living the Dream
This is an awesome time of the year for the Turners. Although we are not doing anything as a family for Independence Day, we normally do something very festive on the Fourth of July like travel to New York to see fireworks or attend a baseball game at Nationals Park or Oriole Park at Camden Yards. But this year my wife is going to the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans with her mother and additional relatives and I will be coaching my oldest son and his All-Star team in his final season of Little League baseball.
My wife's birthday is in early July and I always try to arrange a cookout/pool party so our friends and family can help her celebrate as we did this past weekend. My younger (but not the youngest) brother's birthday is at the end of June and we always try to manage to get together for a little fun...talk junk, watch sports and throw down beers. My wife and I also got married on June 25th so we also get to celebrate our anniversary around this time too.
Although the events I mentioned are great, this year they take a back seat to the birth of our nephew who was born on June 27th. It is my sister's first child and I am so excited for her. Although she quickly dismissed all of my Wakanda-infused baby names, my nephew and the parents are doing quite well. Uncle Tay, Aunt Leslie and the boys can't wait to meet you Richard Anthony.
