Earned & Not Given
It was a great week for the Turners. We celebrated Drew’s fifth grade promotion, which is a major accomplishment for a soon to be sixth grader. We know that middle school brings on an entire new set of challenges for him; nevertheless, he is looking forward to the transition. Thankfully, he will have his older brother who is entering his final year of middle school to assist him with the changeover. For my wife and me it means 1) we officially have big kids now and 2) we made our last childcare payment. That being said, our childcare experience has been exceptional. From Tori's Daycare to Trishawn’s Accredited Family Daycare to the entire staff at Alphabest along with good parenting and awesome teachers, Drew has always been in great hands. Although we all played a part, Drew deserves the majority of the credit for his promotion to sixth grade because he worked his tail off this year.
In addition to Drew’s fifth grade promotion, DJ put in a tremendous amount of work this off-season at Extreme Baseball 24-7 to become a better baseball player. He transformed himself into a switch hitter and added some velocity to his pitches. He continued to put in work during the baseball season and it paid off as he earned a spot on the All-Star team. I always remind him about Shaq’s quote.
He made the All-Star team last year, but I challenged him to get better this year and he did just that. Two great kids, two great accomplishments and two proud parents.
