Revisiting Citi Field on Easter Sunday
My son came up with a brilliant idea to collect team baseballs of the ballparks we visited. The only thing, he came up with this idea at Marlins Park in 2013. It was almost a year after we went to Citi Field which meant we didn’t have a New York Mets baseball for our display case.
Fast forward almost six years later, the Turners had an opportunity to head to Flushing, NY for a Mets game on Easter Sunday so we could finally get that quintessential baseball. Plus no one in the family could remember Citi Field. The boys were just too young and I think my wife and I were just trying to kill time. There may have been a couple of beers involved as well. The only thing I am certain about is the Mets lost to the Phillies that day.
This time around we had plenty of memories and we managed to snag that elusive baseball that had escaped us for the past six years. I am pretty sure some things have changed at Citi Field like some of the food options and maybe some of the sponsorships are different from our initial visit six years ago. One thing that did not change was the outcome of the game as the Mets lost again while we were in attendance. I’m pretty sure Mets fans would be okay if we never came back, but I am sure we will return.
