Labor Day Weekend
We had a great weekend; starting with a trip on Saturday to Beaver Stadium to watch the Nittany Lions torch the Akron Zips for 52 unanswered points on their way to a shut out victory. The Turners tailgated with family and we hung out with family after the game as well. On Sunday we made our way to Baltimore for brunch at the Inner Harbor and an afternoon baseball game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. We definitely got our bang for our buck as we saw a walk-off by Mark Trumbo in the bottom of the 12th inning.
The highlight of the weekend was our trip to Hershey Park. We have been planning a trip to the Land of Chocolate for about a month, but every time we planned to go it would rain. There was a pretty good crowd as the Turners weren't the only family trying to squeeze in one more family event before the kids head back to school. Although my kids don't like chocolate, they had a fantastic time getting on the rides. Now they are not quite at the age of getting on roller coasters which are the ultimate thrill rides, they did manage to get on just about everything else. They even convinced mom and dad to join in on the fun. The Frontier Flyers, the Howler and the Scrambler were amongst the kids favorites.
The boys had a lot of fun on the rides, but their main focus was the Boardwalk and water slides. They spent close to five hours in the water portion of the park alone. The boys really enjoyed the wave pool at the Bayside Pier, but they could not get enough of East Coast Waterworks. It contained slides, water activities and two huge buckets that would fill up over time and tip over and soak the kids and some parents. I must admit, I was one of the parents. We had some of our friends meet us up there and we enjoyed Chik-Fil-A which was right inside the park. In all we had a great time. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic summer vacation for the boys and now it is back to school.
