Hanging With The Turners (HWTT) was launched in 2016 as a way to chronicle our family interactions, provide advice and suggestions as well as share ideas about family. Our hope is to inspire and motivate families through our activities and experience.

HWTT is all about family, sports and lifestyle. We provide thoughtful insight on our events through blog posts, original photography and social media. Happy hanging!

Grand Opening, Grand Closing

Grand Opening, Grand Closing

One of my favorite songs by Jay Z is called "Encore" and in the song there is a line that says grand opening, grand closing. It seems appropriate today because it seems like All-Stars just started and it's already over. It was a bitter sweet day as our Little League All-Star team was eliminated from the double elimination tournament. Our opponents played very well, but I feel we could have made things more difficult for our opponents had we limited our mistakes and avoided the big innings. The kids were disappointed and as one of the coaches, I was disappointed for them because they put in a lot of work. Things just didn't work out in our favor.

Two games of error free baseball at the hot corner.

My son had a tough day at the plate in game one on Saturday; striking out swinging during his two at bats. In game two on Sunday he bounced back in spectacular fashion as he reached base in all three plate appearances including a double, a walk and he was hit by a pitch. He had an RBI, a couple steals and he scored a run. The thing I was most impressed with was he played great defensively. He played the hot corner, which is 3rd base without making an error. He crashed on bunts, made plays with his glove and his arm. He was also directing traffic and he put the tag on a runner trying to go from second to third.

My wife and my youngest son did their best to cheer us on, but it wasn't enough this weekend. Nevertheless, the Turners really appreciated the family that carved out part of their day to support the team, me as a coach, our family, and mainly my son.
