Hanging With The Turners (HWTT) was launched in 2016 as a way to chronicle our family interactions, provide advice and suggestions as well as share ideas about family. Our hope is to inspire and motivate families through our activities and experience.

HWTT is all about family, sports and lifestyle. We provide thoughtful insight on our events through blog posts, original photography and social media. Happy hanging!

Keeping it 100

Keeping it 100

Ain't that what the kids say or maybe that's what they used to say. Anyway, unofficially we have been to well over 100 baseball games, but yesterday (June 29th which is my brother's birthday) we officially in some capacity attended our 100th game according to the MLB.com Ballpark app. If you attend baseball games, this is a must have app. It doesn't matter if you attend 1 game a year or 100 games a year, this app provides you with social media access, store personal photos. record check-ins and track entries on-the-field and off-the-field milestones. For example, on one of my check-ins I mentioned that Scherzer recorded his 2,000th strikeout and on another check-in I took a picture and stated that we were at Nationals Park for our anniversary. And as time goes on, as a family we can look back and recall some of our great (and maybe not so great) experiences during our visits to Nationals Park as well as other ballparks. The mobile check-ins also offers rewards like half off on sodas or half off on hot dogs after the fifth inning and sometimes you can qualify for seat upgrades.

Being a season plan holder, I can email my tickets to my family and friends and they can enter the game just by showing the tickets through the app. No more worrying about leaving the tickets at home because as long as you have your phone, you have your tickets. You can view the map of the stadium and in some parks, you can actually order food through your MLB.com Ballpark App. Every time I go to a game I record my section, row and seat location. Now most of the time it's the same information, but it really comes in handy when you visit different ballparks. So far to date I have been to 15 ballparks and the rest of the Turners have been to 12, but we all will increase that number by 3 before the summer's over with.

The app also shows the overall record of the home teams during your attendance and it breaks it down even further by showing you the record of all the teams you watched. For example the record for the Nationals during our attendance is 38-31 and the record for the Orioles games we attended are 15-10. Whether you are a hard core baseball fan or a casual fan this is an awesome app to have.
