Hanging With The Turners (HWTT) was launched in 2016 as a way to chronicle our family interactions, provide advice and suggestions as well as share ideas about family. Our hope is to inspire and motivate families through our activities and experience.

HWTT is all about family, sports and lifestyle. We provide thoughtful insight on our events through blog posts, original photography and social media. Happy hanging!

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day Weekend

Hopefully everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend like the Turners. It was a busy weekend, but we had a great four days. On Friday I rode all 26 miles (round trip) of the the Indian Head Rail Trail and I beat my best time. Later on that evening, my wife attended a wine party with her sister-in-law while my brother and I took the boys to Nationals Park to see the Nationals take on the Padres.

On Saturday my son played in a doubleheader while I coached the doubleheader and my wife and youngest son cheered us on. DJ played very well. We lost the first game, but the team bounced back and we won the second game. After the game me and the lady of the house went on a quick 20 mile bike ride.

The next day we had another doubleheader. We lost the first game and DJ played even better on Sunday and the backend of the doubleheader was delayed almost two hours and eventually canceled due to rain. No worries though; we spent the rest of the day with family, grilling, watching movies and playing Monopoly in which I dominated.

Some family time on the trail.

On Memorial Day, the Turners went for a family bike ride. The boys quickly became disinterested once the sun came out as their attention immediately shifted from cycling to swimming. We cut the ride short and headed poolside. The calendar may say it's still spring, but I'd say it's safe to play Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince even if school isn't quite out yet.
