Hanging With The Turners (HWTT) was launched in 2016 as a way to chronicle our family interactions, provide advice and suggestions as well as share ideas about family. Our hope is to inspire and motivate families through our activities and experience.

HWTT is all about family, sports and lifestyle. We provide thoughtful insight on our events through blog posts, original photography and social media. Happy hanging!

Beer, Bourbon & Wine

Beer, Bourbon & Wine

This weekend, the Turners went to the Food and Wine Festival at the National Harbor. We met up with two of our favorite couples; Shari and Kordell Prattis and Sanette and Anton Coursey. Thank god for the women in our lives because the ladies booked this event in January and the guys had no idea. We were probably too focused on the Super Bowl in which none of our teams had a real shot to win. Nevertheless, we had a fantastic time on Saturday.

We sampled all sorts of wines from Malbecs to Cabernets to Moscatos to Chardonnays. There were some excellent wines, but we never made it back to purchase any wines. We all made notes and took pictures of the wines we enjoyed, but the lack of food forced our hand. We sampled so much alcohol, we had to go to Cadillac Ranch so we could get something to eat. Plus the warm afternoon temperatures didn't help.

The guys hovered around the beer tent sampling the various beers most of the time. The guys didn't know a damn thing about wine. We were swirling it around in the glass, smelling it...pretending we knew what we were doing, but we had no idea. With guys, it's all about the beer. Whatever you do, do not try the Strawberry beer. Don't worry about the brand...if you see strawberry don't even try it! It's horrible!

That being said, between the Food and Wine Festival and Cadillac Ranch, we all had a great time. We had some of the best people we know hanging with the Turners and we invite all of you to hang with us next time.
