Friday Night Lights
The boys had a phenomenal week and they still have one day left. The youngest celebrated his 10th birthday on Tuesday and my wife and I attended his award ceremony. He was selected by his teacher to receive the Mightiest Mustang award for his 4th grade class. It's an outstanding achievement and it reflects his commitment to being an excellent all-around student and classmate. The award embodies the school's motto of being "Positive, Polite and Prepared". When they announced his name, he froze in his tracks. He was completely stunned and the audience got a big kick out of it.
Earlier on Friday, I attended his brother's Honor Roll assembly in which he made High Honor Roll for having.a GPA above 3.5. I don't take any of the award ceremonies for granted. If they are going to work hard enough to put themselves in position to receive these awards, then I need to make sure I'm front and center to see them get acknowledged by their teachers, principals and other faculty members.
Because the boys had such a good week, the Turners took a quick road trip to Baltimore to see the Orioles. Since we live in Maryland you might not consider it a road trip for us, but ask anyone traveling from south of DC all the way to Baltimore in rush hour traffic and they would tell you it is most definitely a road trip. It was our first (and more than likely not our last) trip to Camden Yards this year and we witnessed an excellent pitching performance by Dylan Bundy as the Orioles beat the Red Sox 2-0! The boys enjoyed it, plus my wife got to sit behind Adam Jones. Keep up the great work boys!
