The Season Starts With Us
My oldest had baseball tryouts today and everything was up to speed except he didn’t have any cleats. We went to Dick’s Sporting Goods a few nights before, but we didn’t have much luck. Being big time Nationals fans, I wanted to get some Bryce Harper cleats for him to wear. But not only did they not have the Bryce Harpers, they didn’t have any cleats worth buying in his size so I had to order his Bryce Harper’s online from Under Armor.
That still didn’t solve our problem so I had to go to Modell’s and get him another pair of cleats for tryouts. I guess he will have one pair for practice and one pair for the game. Lucky him. Speaking of games and practices, I was recruited by one of the coaches and the commissioner to be an assistant coach since I coached two years ago. I told myself then I wasn’t going to coach my son any more because I wanted him to hear another voice. But like Michael Corleone said in Godfather III, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.”
So I guess I am back to being Coach Dad and I was happy that my son was happy that I was back…at least until our first practice.
Right after practice, the Turners had to head straight to Nationals Park for a Nationals Event. The event was to give potential members the opportunity to become Nats Plus members and buy a ticket plan while watching the Nationals preseason game on the scoreboard amongst other things. The significance of the event was to allow you to sit in your actual seats prior to the purchase. It was kind of like trying on clothes. I guess you can say we were trying on seats.
For the past three years, we have been trying to decide if we should purchase some sort of ticket plan and each year we decided against it, because it requires a serious commitment and we like to visit different parks. Last year we attended almost 30 games at five different stadiums and I felt that was a lot. But with the All Star game coming to Nationals Park, my wife and I decided this was the year to become Nats Plus members and display our Natitude. Go Nats!
