Mother of Dragons (Part II)
Baseball consumed our entire weekend, except for one all-important football game. You are probably thinking Steelers vs Ravens or Raiders vs Broncos. Not quite. I am referring to the fantasy football match-up between my team, 6Burgh and my wife’s team, Mother of Dragons. If you read Mother of Dragons (Part I), you would realize there was a lot of hype surrounding this match-up. But when the fire spewed out and the smoke cleared; Mother of Dragons dominated 6Burgh. It wasn't even close. My team is terrible!
Nevertheless, it was the last week of the regular season for the Nationals so we spent Friday night and Sunday afternoon at Nationals Park. We had a 41 game package and we managed to attend 38 of them, but we more than made up for those 3 misfires, by attending games at six additional stadiums including five at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
I accumulated quite a few red carpet rewards points (Probably not as many as full season holders) and I had enough to get the boys some cold weather hats and a bracelet for my wife. On the final weekend, we witnessed Strasburg’s 200th strikeout of the season on Friday and we witnessed Werth’s 200th career double on Sunday. Not to mention we watched the Nationals longest 9-inning game in history on Sunday as well, which was brutal.
On Saturday, DJ's team won as he pitched a complete game where he struck out 7, tagged out a player trying to steal home and he threw out a runner at first base and one at second base. We have to tinker with his mechanics a bit, as he struggled at the plate. That being said, he was chosen to be on the tournament team this Saturday and Sunday. Coach dad will not be coaching this weekend so I can just sit back and be dad and watch him play.
