Taking One for the Team
DJ plays a lot of baseball and I coach a lot of baseball, but Leslie and the Drewmeister sacrifice a lot for the family when it comes to baseball which is a year round activity. Drew has to go to every baseball practice even though he is not playing. He has to listen to the strategy and sit in the rain and deal with the heat and give up his free time so I can coach and DJ can play. He sits through every win and every loss and no matter the outcome he says, "Good game bro!" He has to do his homework in the truck and eat dinner on-the-go just so his big bro can play ball. He gives up his weekends and he never complains. He just grabs his iPad, smiles and supports his brother.
My wife makes sure I know where to go. She keeps the schedule updated and she makes sure the team gets snacks. She never complains about spending her entire weekend at the baseball field. I know she sees her girls out shopping and going to happy hour and living it up on the weekends, but she never misses a game. She works concessions, get stung by bees, takes pictures and video of our games and ensures DJ has a clean uniform because lord knows my laundry skills are terrible. She's the first one to cheer her son on when he goes yard and she's the first one to get on his case when he isn't hustling.
So while I'm tweeting and posting on Facebook and Instagram, just know this is happening because my youngest son and my wife are giving up a lot so DJ and I can coach and play baseball.
